HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication

Welcome to the unit…

HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively assist clients with their medication. As a healthcare professional, it is important that you are able to recognise different types of medication, understand their effects on the body, and know how to correctly store, handle, and administer them.

Throughout this course, you will learn about the legislative and organisational requirements for assisting clients with medication, including the roles and responsibilities of different healthcare professionals. You will also learn about the different routes of medication administration, and the key principles for safe and effective administration. Additionally, you will gain an understanding of the importance of accurate documentation and reporting, and how to respond to medication-related incidents.

Effective communication with clients is also an important aspect of medication administration. In this course, you will learn how to communicate with clients about their medication, including explaining the purpose and expected effects, potential side effects, and any instructions for administration.

Course Introduction

Course Instructions

  1. There are 5 chapters in this online course, each with a corresponding video. We highly recommend that you watch each video carefully, as they will provide you with important information that you will need to successfully complete the course.
  2. After you have watched the video for each chapter, you will be required to complete a short quiz. The quizzes will be automatically marked, and you will need to achieve a 100% pass mark to progress to the next chapter.
  3. For the research project, you will be required to research 10 different types of medications and their uses, side effects, potential interactions, and any special instructions for administration. The research project is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of the different types of medications and their effects on the body.
  4. The Research Project will be manually marked by a clinical assessor. Once you have submitted your assessment, the clinical assessor will mark your work and provide you with feedback.
  5. Please note that the assessment must be completed prior to attending the practical session.
  6. It is important to understand that the certificate cannot be issued until all elements of the assessment have been completed. This includes watching all 5 videos, completing all 5 quizzes with a 100% pass mark, and submitting the final assessment.

We hope that you find this course informative and engaging, and we look forward to helping you develop the knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively assist clients with their medication. Good luck with your studies!
